BUDGET OF THE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE OFFICE

 

The Military Intelligence Office of the Republic of Hungary is an organization of national authority, with independent budget.

            By virtue of the Law no. CXXV of 1995, the MIO is directed by the Government, through the Minister of Defense. Accordingly, the MIO’s budget appears in the Act on the yearly budget of the Republic of Hungary, under the sub-title no. 3/1, within the title no. 3 on the “National Security Services, Chapter XIII of the Ministry of Defense.
            2006-2009 original budgetary appropriation of the Military Intelligence Office was as follows:

  1. 8,544.9m HUF
  2. 8,825.1m HUF
  3. 9 692,8m HUF
  4. 8 916,4m HUF        

The approved expenditures ensure appropriate financial resources for the MIO to carry out its basic tasks and sustain the military diplomatic network as well as to maintain and operate the MIO’s machinery.
The main items in the MIO’s yearly budgetary allocations are as follows:

–1. Personal costs (allowances, salaries, premiums, regular and not-regular bonuses, reimbursement of different personal expenses). It also includes the expenditures (in forint and foreign currency) of the personal allowances paid for our staff working abroad at military diplomatic representations.
–2. Several employers’ liabilities imposed on personal incomes (social security contributions, employer’s charges, health insurance).
–3. Material and other expenditures that contain the financial allocations for the maintenance of foreign representations, for information collection, for the up-keeping of buildings and facilities, as well as for the acquisition of stockpiles necessary for the MIO’s functioning, furthermore the costs of several infrastructure-related and other services.
–4. Institutional investments, including the acquiring of materials related to our functioning.
–5. Costs of renewals, containing the renewal of several means acquired from the budget allocated for investments.

–6. Expenditures for functional, supporting activities, encompassing the sums spent on various social assistances.
